WHERE ON MY RESUME SHOULD I PLACE QUOTES?

Shorter quotes, like quote #1, you can place in your resume early on, right after your objective. This section, called highlights, career profile, or career summary, is where you place a few bulleted sentences, between three and six, that will each describe the greatest things about you. Things you’ve achieved on the job, your best skills and accomplishments. One of these sentences can contain your short quote.

WHERE ON MY RESUME SHOULD I PLACE THE LONGER QUOTES?

There’s been some argument over this, but when I'm working on a client's resume, I like to create a section called comments, which I’ll place after the work history section and before the education section.

There are some that feel this is placing quotes too far down on your resume, but I think it’s strategically a good place to put them. After the recruiter reads over your work history, the comments/quotes section just enhances what he/she read.

DON’T EVER BE CREATIVE WITH QUOTES

One thing you don’t want to do with quotes is get creative. More than likely, the recruiter is going to check on what’s being said about you. Don’t ever assume that they won’t—that’s foolish. With that said, just make sure that the person you worked for is going to stand behind what’s on your resume, and won’t furrow a brow and say “huh?”
Because of course, getting caught in a lie will result in your resume being trashed without hesitation.

Overall, quotes are truly one of the greatest ways to strengthen your resume. Not only do they give you great credibility and individuality, they give the recruiter/employer added insight into your job abilities. Quotes can help illustrate the type of employee you are, and what you’re capable of.
